Our Story
Germinated from pure frustration.
Every good garden starts with soil, this one started with a sigh.
Lee had been venting to Jamie again. Not for the first time, not for the hundredth, for what felt like the millionth time. The subject was familiar and deeply felt. Beautiful gardens being installed, immaculate patios laid, walls aligned to the millimetre, lighting perfectly positioned. And then the plants, left as an afterthought. Poorly planted. Poorly spaced. Poorly understood. Treated like unwelcome houseguests rather than living, breathing things.
Jamie listened, as he always did. Patiently. Calmly. And then took a sip of his coffee and, in that wonderfully practical way of his, simply said,
“Let’s set up our own planting service.”
Not a grand business plan, or a five year strategy. Just a sentence. A seed. And like most seeds, it did not look like much at the time…
From small seedlings
In the early days, Lee & Jamie did it themselves, planting borders by hand. They set them out, corrected the soil, reworked spacing. They stood back, moved things, adjusted, tweaked… you name it.
Word began to spread as clients noticed the difference. Gardens that had previously felt static began to feel alive. Borders matured properly. Plants thrived (mostly!), and schemes settled in rather than struggled. A relief and a revelation for us and our clients.
Over the past ten years, while Lee has focused on design, Jamie has grown and developed this team into something rather special. What started as two people with muddy boots has become a dedicated planting team with an almost forensic understanding of how plants behave in real gardens, in real soil, in real British weather.
Today, that team is led by Jamie and supported by horticulturalists John H. & Tom, with Jon O. taking the lead with irrigation and lighting.
There genuinely is not much Tom does not know when it comes to the world of plants. Latin names, soil types, pruning windows, root behaviour, seasonal performance, companion planting. It is all stored somewhere in his remarkable brain. Alongside an appreciation for vintage cars and country music.

Meet Tom
Tom is our horticultural expert, combining deep horticultural knowledge with practical, hands on experience of planting in everything from newly built gardens to long established landscapes that simply need careful, knowledgeable refreshment. He understands not just what looks good on paper, but what will actually thrive once the van has driven away.
His approach is thoughtful, methodical, and rooted in genuine care for the health and longevity of every plant we install. He’s responsible for in-house training & ensuring horticultural standards are met throughout the business.

Plant supply, carefully sourced and selected for quality and suitability
Border refresh services for both established gardens and newly created ones that need expert planting input
Because plants are not the finishing touch, they are the point of a garden.
